I’ve always been intrigued by the search for innovative ways to make complex systems and structures more efficient. As an engineer, I will gain the knowledge and practical experience necessary to use creativity, math and science to solve not only today's problems but dilemmas that do not yet exist.

After learning that my uncle was experiencing low profits at his restaurant, I decided to use my calculus skills to help him determine the causes. By analyzing his data, I identified the flawed distribution of employees across shifts and therefore, taught myself the Simplex Method to determine the optimal shift schedule. The implementation of the new schedule led to increased profits although my final report had limitations. However, I wasn’t discouraged, but rather, motivated to find ways of overcoming the numerous constraints and uncertainties in these types of real-world scenarios. With the versatile skills required of an engineer, I would resolve greater problems using similar methods in areas ranging from tech innovation to financial markets. Further, after creating a painless insulin injector at M&TSI, I decided that I want to blend entrepreneurship with engineering gaining the ability to not only design and manufacture a working prototype or process, but also advertise, market and commercialize my own innovations.

Becoming an entrepreneurial engineer will provide me unique access to resources and a way of looking at the world that will empower me to tackle the inefficiency of systems globally, improving the quality of life for many through innovation, optimization and sustainability
